“Pleasant surprise”

The room was quiet, serene, and quite modern with an IPOD dock station and flat screen tv. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The location was great for me. Not on the strip but accessible to shopping, UCSC, and all other amenities. Very clean........good shower pressure.

“Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Santa Cruz East”

Just returned from a 16 fay road trip around California, only stayed in the Holiday Inn hotel for one night, however the hotel was spotless, quie, comfortable and convienient. Free parking, sauna, swimmingpool and breakfast. Rooms were large, beds ridiculously comfortable and spotless. one of my favourtie hotels of the trip. would highly recommend.

“Brand-new 2009”

The hotel was only open 4 weeks when we stayed. Nice room, bathroom. LCD tv, good a/c. Average/good complimentary breakfast in lobby area with LCD tv running. Free access to two computers near elevator. Nice pool in courtyard surrounded by the rooms for privacy from the street.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. The room was nice, decent size, and very clean. The staff was helpful, the complimentary breakfast was better than average. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a decent place to stay at a good price.

We stayed for 1 night. The hotel is clean and the staff was very friendly. Room was small but clean. The room did not come with a refrigerator. But did have free internet.

“Clean, new and quiet”

Very nice! Right off the freeway as you exit onto Ocean street, this hotel is far enough away from the Boardwalk and all that activity to actually be quiet. Unless you need to walk to the beach/boardwalk, do yourself a favor and stay here. It's new, super clean, quiet, and the staff was very friendly. It is pricier than most of the hotels in the area, but if you value cleanliness and quiet - then it's worth the extra bucks. I will stay here again.

“Nice place to vacation”

We had a great time at the Holiday Inn Express. It was a relaxing 2 mile walk to the beach/boardwalk. We utilized the gym and enjoyed complimentary breakfast. The bed was comfortable and the room was very nice. Next time I am in Santa Cruz I will definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Express!

“Great location for UCSC visits”

The hotel is very clean. Having the breakfast is a nice timesaver in the mornings. We will definitely return when we visit our daughter at UCSC.

“New, Clean, and Near the Beach”

When I looked at the hotel on line, it was rated with something like 2.5 or 3 stars based on the amenities. Don't let the star rating fool you. The bedrooms (or at least mine) was on the small side, but the room (and the hotel) was new, clean, and well appointed. Free parking is located underground. They have a continental breakfast available in the lobby every day that is included in the price, has great variety, and is very satisfying. No dining services otherwise. But there are some vending machines in the lobby if you really need a late night snack, and there are all types of eateries in walking distance. Although I did not use them, there is a gym and a small pool. This place stands out like a gem among the older buildings located within a couple of miles of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. I would recommend it and would stay there again.

“Great Stay”

The Holiday Inn Express Santa Cruz East is just off northbound CA-1. It was very easy to find via mapquest and there were several places to eat in the area. The hotel was quiet, well appointed, clean, and comfortable. TV was flat panel LCD. The room rate included continental breakfast but I had to leave early, before the 6am or 6:30am start, in order to make travel connections and cannot comment on the food. Parking was in the lower level of the hotel and convenient to the elevator. Overall, I was quite pleased with my stay and would not hesitate to stay there again.
