“A great experience for our family”

My family of four (2 boys 13 and 8) stayed one night here on New Year's Eve. The price is a little high for us being on a budget but had stayed there once before a few years ago and already knew it was a nice place. I was impressed once again w/ this place. Very clean and comfortable. We got the King & 2 twin room(s). The kids got to be in the second room with the kitchenette & bathroom & the second tv. The microwave & fridge were clean & convenient. Plenty of hot water for everyone to shower in the morning. The best thing about it is the family atmosphere and how quiet it is. No sounds of traffic to keep you up! The breakfast was great- lots to choose from and very clean. We love that it is so close to the attractions- about 10 minutes. Excellent experience. We plan to come back again.

“A Hidden Gem”

This hotel provided the kind of experience that my wife and I were seeking. Peaceful, quiet solitude...minutes from the ocean and from the tourist attractions offered in the Monterey area. There is no pool, so kids might be disappointed, but not having little kids yelling and screaming around the pool is not necessarily a bad thing.

“Lovely time”

We had a wonderful stay - the suite had all the ammenities that we wanted...two connecting rooms each with their own tv, refrigerator, comfortable beds, quiet neighborhood! The attractions in Monterey were only about 5-10 minutes away by car. We also enjoyed the breakfast area with the usual fare and the additional waffle maker-yum! These units are converted condos and have high vaulted ceilings that give an air of roominess in rooms that might seem crowded.

The rooms are converted condos. The suite has large bedroom with fireplace, kitchen, & patio. Garage parking available. Short walk to beach. Beautiful & quiet area. We will definitely stay here again.

“Very Positive Experience”

The Howard Johnson Express Pacific Grove is located in a quiet neighborhood and very close to the beach and attractions. The hotel set up felt like you had your own apartment with a king bed in one room and 2 double beds in the adjoining room, a tv in each room, a balcony, and a bar sink and mini refrigerator. The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice touch. The staff, from manager to the maids, were very friendly and helpful. The manager was very patient and attentive to all our needs and gave great recommendations for places to eat. I will definitely go back to this hotel.

“Love Pacific Grove!”

This place is perfect for some peace and quiet after a long day in Monterey. I loved our private balcony. The lay out of the rooms are different, but are spacious and have all you could ask for. The shower/tub has a strange configuration but other than that we loved it. Breakfast was average. I loved the fact that we had a private garage for our car. The beds were very firm, and linens clean. If you appreciate a clean, quiet hotel, you will like this place. We had a great stay!

“Comfort in a Great Location”

We enjoyed our stay at Pacific Grove's HoJo's...very close to Asilomar and the beaches. The walking along the coast there is convenient and beautiful. The bed in our room was most comfortable. The continental breakfast was less than satisfying - all carbs and poor quality coffee (how about a hard boiled egg?)...but we went to Asilomar Gift Shop for espresso.

“A great place to stay”

This was our first time at this hotel, but it wont be our last. The rooms were large and comfortable, the bathtub soo nice, really liked the balcony.

These accommodations are condos that have been converted and, as such, offer a lot that you don't get in regular hotels. There were two bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed, dresser and TV and a balcony. There was a kitchenette in one room consisting of a coffee maker, refrig., microwave, sink, dishes and silverware. Get ready to air your room out when you first get there. The buildings are a little musty, but that's the area and there's nothing that can be done about it. Once the room has aired out for a while, it's great. The hotel is in the middle of old growth shade trees in a quiet neighborhood, which is beautiful. The bonus was the deer that came out at night. How gorgeous. I'd stay here again in a minute.
