“Superb place to stay.”
I found the hotel to be really modern and inviting on arrival. The staff were happy enough to help, and was in my room settled within 5 minutes or so. The maids were persistent to say the least, despite having a "do not disturb sign" on the door and the door locked, on several occasions they still tried to get in, but it wasnt too much of an inconvinence. Although, I did not use the hotels facilities (small cafe for example) I saw they being well used by other guests, and they appeared satifisfied by the high standard of service they received. The POD's location is perfect if you are ready to just get out walking, 20 minutes walk and your'e at Time square, 20 minutes in any direction and you are at a main tourist attraction frankly. There's lots of available information within the hotel to find these places if need's be. I would DEFIANTLY stay here again, in fact almost certainly will be next year. Small but mighty I believe the term is.
“awesome hotel”
this hotel is positioned in a fantastic location, handy for may attractions. the staff is very friendly and helpful.
“Great location, modern rooms and great service.”
Great location, price and service. Excellent staff. If you like the old world charm "Helmsley" snooty hotels then this is not the place for you. On the other hand you can meet many diverse people from around the world and USA at the Pod Cafe. I am 60 yo and enjoy seeing and meeting the student groups and senior groups along with other travelers.
“wow”
Unbelievebly good hotel in an amazing location, only problem is rooms are small but that is already expected in manhattan
“Good”
Location is good. Employees are good. Atmosphere is good. Room is good. Restroom is good. But the roof is repairing so we cant use it. Little bit noisy.
“I love this place”
New York needs more like this! Everything you need in the right place for the right price. great staff, Really quiet, just two blocks from the subway, wifi, international travelers, good atmosphere - you don't need anything else.
“A great wee place in a convenient spot”
Despite overhearing a rude man loudly criticising this hotel one night, we were very pleased with our stay at the Pod. Yes, the rooms are small, but who goes to New York to stay in their room?? The bunks are large and comfortable, and the bathrooms are immaculate. The light to indicate when someone is using the shared bathroom is a great idea and works well. The hotel is well placed for midtown attractions and close to a subway for the rest. The staff were efficient and helpful, and the decor is modern and bright. It would be good to state on the website that there is free ipad use - we romped through £30 worth of Internet in 3 days before realising this as our phones don't connect to wifi. Also, rooms on the 12th floor may be rather warmer than the outside temperature! Sadly, the roof terrace was not available during our stay, but this is a small point. PS Don't bother with the $5 "psychic" next door!!
“great location, great price”
This is like staying in a train car, which isn't a bad thing. Our room had bunk beds and an in-room sink, while the bathroom (including showers) was down the hall. The location was great -- Midtown East a few blocks from the UN to the east or Rockefeller Center to the west. The staff was great, and the neighborhood wasn't too noisy. Our only complaint was that there was only one pillow per person, not enough to be comfortable. It is certainly an affordable alternative in Manhattan.
“GOOD CLEAN PLACE”
IT WAS A GOOD CLEAN HOTEL WITH A GOOD ENVIRONMENT. THE LOCATION WAS GREAT AS WELL. NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT BEDBUGS BITING YOU HERE.
“lovely experience”
staying at The Pod was my first experience at a shared-bathroom hotel, and i'll admit i was a little hesitant of the whole idea. but The Pod was great! there's an in-room indicator to let you know which bathrooms are available, and the staff kept them in excellent condition. every one was friendly and helpful, and there are two subway stations in easy walking distance. i will definitely be staying here again!
