“GREAT COMFORT AT THE PENNY ROYAL MOTEL, LAUNCESTON”

The Penny Royal Motel is a beautiful old motel full of character but with modern furnishings and ammenities. We were very comfortable there and slept well.

“Penny Royal is an allround great spot”

Warm and comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Great spot for walking into town, along the river or into the Gorge.

“Clean, comfortable, well located to the Gorge/CBD”

Great motel, great location and very comfortable. I would stay here again. My only gripe/suggestion would be that the lady on the front desk could smile a bit more and make me feel like less of an inconvenience for simply checking in and out - and it wasn't just a bad day, she was abrupt on both occasions I dealt with her. This hotel would have got a 5 out of 5 if she had have smiled! :)

“Step back in time”

Staying in a converted mill complete with waterwheels and exposed beams, sensational! The fact that there is a lolly factory and a windmill at the back of the hotel is a bonus. The location is superb; turn left and you're at the entrance to the magnificent Cataract Gorge, turn right and you're at the entrance to the river walk. Town centre is a leisurely stroll; actually, everything is leisurely in Launceston; love it!

“OK but wouldn't stay again.”

As far as historical value this hotel is great. But we werent happy that it had no airconditioning and smokers would stand outside under our window and the smoke would drift into our room, not very nice at all. It's in a good location however is somewhat noisy so if you want a good night sleep you will need to shut your windows. The staff were friendly but didnt really go out of their way to offer any tips and their local knowledge wasnt that good. We did have a nice stay and the beds were very comfortable.
