“Beautiful characterful hotel!”
The Hotel de la Tour d'Auvergne was the perfect base for our weekend in Paris. Near to Gare du Nord & Gare St Lazare for our transport connections, walking distance to Montmartre and the Opera for sightseeing. The rooms are individually decorated and ours (rm 45) was sophisticated and arty with a beautiful bathroom. The room and bed (double, not 2 singles pushed together that you often find) were very comfortable (also we could adjust our own room temperature which was nice). Breakfast was delicious and well presented although, at an extra 12 euros each, a little expensive. We went out for breakfast on the 2nd morning and found a cafe with no difficulties. Just one thing to note - if you are arriving late at night be prepared to ring the bell and wait for someone to come to reception. Staff speak French plus a little English and were very welcoming. We thoroughly recommend this hotel.
“consors”
The hotel is a good example of what one would expect from this class/level of hotel in a city area. Staff very friendly; reception adequate; bar/minibar available. 5-10 mins from the nearest metro and down/uphill to get there/back. Sacre Coeur 15-20 min walk. Gare du Nord 20 min walk. None of this a problem for anyone who doesn't mind walking. Adequate restaraunts (one very good one) and bars within walking distance.
“good hotel not great location”
very helpful staff, very small dark room, lovely bathroom, not the best location for evening strolls the street was a bit dark.
“A useful base to explore”
We travelled as a family of four, looking for a reasonably-priced, reasonably comfortable base for our three day stay in Paris and this hotel fitted the bill just fine. The hotel is far enough away from the tourist track to be as quiet as you could hope for but only 10 minutes' walk from Montmartre and less than five minutes from the nearest Metro, with plenty of shops and restaurants close by too. The staff could not have been more helpful and though I'm sure there are more luxurious hotels in the city, we found this ideal for our purpose.
“friendly and unpretentious”
This an intimate hotel with warm, responsive service. The room was a bit shabby but the bathroom was clean and relatively modern--nice deep tub with hand held shower but no curtain. Lots of towels supplied daily. When shower broke it was immediately replaced. Morning continental breakfast was probably not the best deal financially but was more than adequate with excellent coffee, fresh baked pastries in a pleasant environment. Good proximity to Gare du Nord and metro Cadet.
“Parisian hotel of character”
Room of great French character and good amenities. A little short on storage space. Friendly service.
“Clean, well-located small boutique hotel”
Very nice and clean small hotel. A bit noisy at times.
“Disaoopointing ...and too far from the metro”
Overall the hotel did not live up to expectations, despite very friendly/helpful check-in staff when we arrived. The rooms (we saw several) were generally disappointing and the location was in the end too quiet, with a too long a walk to either of the nearest metro stations
