“Just Like Being Back in Shanghai in 1930 but with Modern Conveniences”
Take a trip back in time but with the convenience of today. Worth the money to stay soewhere with character. Friendly efficient staff.
“We'll be back - loved it”
The staff were very friendly and happy to help in any way. the room was spacious and very clean. The Assistant Manager was attentive with all our needs. Boutique hotels have more charm that the highrise hotels. Very central to everything. We'll be back for sure.
“Brilliant place to stay in Shanghai”
We stayed here for 3 nights during November. The hotel experience was excellent - lovely building and interiors, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms, great location. Breakfast on the rooftop was great too with nice district views. Highly recommend the hotel to anyone and would definitely stay there again. Just remember to take one of their business cards with the hotel address written in Chinese so the taxi driver can get you home!
“Great product but lack of spoken English hampers service.”
Luxious interiors. Great location & lot of character. Would definetly go back & stay there again if I visit Shanghai again.
“virtually ideal”
Having stayed in 13 different hotels in Shanghai, i would rate this one of the best for my taste. The location was ideal, the style far more interesting than the "new boxes" and the reception and chamber maid staff consistently helpful. 2 areas for improvement: 1. breakfast - great roof garden restaurant spoilt by overpriced, poor quality and mediogre service breakfast 2. as for many Chinese hotels, carpets on stairways etc are badly stained and look dirty and it spoils the impression in a beautiful old building
“Mansion is comfortable, a bit uninspiring”
We had a comfortable stay at the Mansion. The ambience is unusual as they combine hotel and museum exhibits. The room was big and well equipped although the TV would not receive CNN or BBC, I suspect for censorship reasons. The location is convenient to major shopping areas and there is a very nice park across the road. The hotel was a good place to have a Western style breakfast as this was hard to find at the shops, apart from American chains (Starbucks etc) which we don't like. The downstairs Chinese restaurant in the hotel was a disappointment, and the 5th floor restaurant was Western, expensive and ordinary. There are excellent Chinese restaurants within walking distance (we used Lonely Planet for advice). Service was just acceptable, not special. Next time we will probably look for somewhere a bit more interesting.
“Huntley andrews”
This hotel is charming from the Outside, service not very good at all, this hotel needs alot of up grades very tired, I would not stay their again, even when we checked out no of their printers would work, had a hand written bill, I mean that is going back in the day.
