“Excellent but didn't encounter any of the ghosts.”
The breakfast was amazing. I have never seen such a choice before. You can literally have anything you want and as much as you like, The old stables has been nconverted to a very excellent bar/restaaurant. The quality of the food was excellent. All freshly prepared and the prices are very reasonable. Only complaint - portions tooo large but very nicely presented.
“Trip to Beamish”
On first arrival the hotel looked very impresive being a manor house set in its own grounds and it certainly lived up to expectations. The reception was in the main hall, which set the scene for the rest of the hotel and the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. All the bedrooms are in the main building with easy access to the breakfast room and lounges. Our bedroom could be considered a little small compared to more modern hotels but the building has been there since 1268!!!!!! Evening dining was in the restaurant at the back of the hotel across a very nice courtyard and a very good choice of food at reasonable prices. Overall a beautiful building and quiet location. Ideal for visiting Beamish Museum. A place we will certainly go back to if in the area.
“Its a great getaway”
The hotel was brilliant the food was good and the staff were nice and friendly I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to all of my friends
“Relax”
We had a problem on our first night with noise from a guest next door no problem we were moved to another room within seconds, the staff are second to non, special mention to Tony he deserves a medal exceptional service we cant wait to return where else can you sit having breakfast or afternoon tea watching birds of prey being trained on the lawn in front of the hotel.
“Beamish Hall”
Stayed here as a treat to celebate our 10th anniversary. Lovely room and very spacious bathroom. Absolutely spotless. Staff very accommodation and extremely friendly and helpful. Dinner at Stables restaurant was first class and breakfast was a knockout!
“Great stay, great food”
My wife and I stayed for our 1st wedding anniversary on the 25th Feb 2012 and it was fab! At check in the two girls on reception were very friendly and welcoming to us both. Our room was clean and tidy but showing a few bits of wear and tear, but don`t let this put you off. We had afternoon tea and a meal in the Stables and can`t knock it one bit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will be booking another visit soon.
“Lovely setting, shame about the bed”
A beautiful hotel, full of character and quirkiness. Fabulous big bedroom. Delightful and beautiful groounds. Excellent service. Delicious breafast. The one big complaint that we had was the bed. It was a small (too small) double bed which creaked and had a badly sprung mattress. We had a very bad night's sleep. Rather an important thing to get right.
“Disappointed”
On arrival the frontage of the hotel was a bit disappointing compared to the photos. It was quite 'blackened' and dirty looking and the wheel chair decking ramp looked like a cheap and nasty concession to the disabled. The reception was also a let down compared the professionally taken photos, maybe nothing new that, but I admit on first impressions I was quite disappointed. We were in a 'delux' room and the winding route there put me more in mind of a guest house than an 4-star hotel. The carpets, decor, all are tired (to be polite). The room was supposed to evoke 'old world' comfort i imagine but the furniture had more a feel of jumble sale than stately home. Room service can only be said to give a 'lick & spit' when it comes to tidying your room too. The bathroom has no face cloths (the receptionist tried telling me she'd never heard of any hotel supplying them) or hand soap. Breakfast is good. Stables restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced with no scrimping on the portions. Right next door to Beamish Living Museum which is a nice day out.
