“Third stay at Howard Johnson Cheverly”
I'm surprised that this hotel doesn't have a higher average rating. I've stayed there three times now, the rooms are in perfect condition, everything works fine, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Nothing to complain about. It's convenient to D.C. without having to actually be in D.C. limits, while also convenient to various parts of southern Maryland and eastern Virginia. The free breakfast is adequate, and the lady who takes care of it is wonderful and our 5-year-old son absolutely loves her. There are always free parking spaces available, and I've never had any problem with people loitering in the lot, as it seems to be guarded as well as them closing the gate to thru traffic late at night. In this particular area, you also seem to be able to avoid quite a bit of the traffic that you hit in other areas that are proximate to D.C. We were even able to drive to Baltimore for a concert one afternoon, & there wasn't even any rush-hour traffic from here. The rooms are adequately spacious, the beds are comfortable even for me with my bad back, the climate control maintains a comfortable temperature, and the bathroom is fine and clean, everything in working order, spacious enough, and plenty of hot water for showers and baths. The only foreseeable problem I could imagine is that many of the rooms have those connecting doors to neighboring rooms, which could possibly be a problem if you get noisy neighbors. But all in all, great hotel. We'll definitely be back!
“Great Vacation”
The hotel staff was the best. Our kids made friends with them and they were really nice. Great place for a family vacation hopping to DC. The shuttle service was good and the drivers were on top of things the best they could to meet demands. We had a great time and extended our stay for 1 more day. Breakfast was great and saved us money (a lot!). Cannot complain about anything!
“Our Experience”
Hotel is not a 5 star and we were surprised when we arrived and saw the neighborhood. My wife had reservations about staying there. We checked in (early) and the staff was most helpful with directions to anywhere we wanted to go. There was a book that the staff had that had printed directions to different destinations. We would stay there again if the need arises.
“Great hotel for the price...will stay again!”
We were looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at that offered free continental breakfast while we visited DC. This hotel was great for the price. The front desk staff was extremely friendly. The housekeeping staff kept us in towels!! They offer a free shuttle service to the metro..the evening shuttle man was AWESOME! This hotel was awesome for the price and we would certainly stay there again!! We traveled with children and the hotel was great!
“A great room for the D.C vacationer”
The staff was extreamly helpfull. The hotel was very clean and confortable. I actually booked the room for an extra day when our vacation plans changed due to the weather. I would recomend this hotel to anyone wanting to see the sights and stay in a nice room too!!!

“Inexpensive well-run hotel in the outskirts of Washington DC”
The hotel fit my needs precisely and enabled me to commute on the Metro to a convention in town. They provide shuttle service to the Metro leaving on the hour and returning 15 minutes after the hour. They were very accommodating in responses to last minute changes in my shuttling needs.

Since this was my first time visiting your city,the staff was very helpful in aiding us re: sight-seeing in Washington,D.C. and catching the Metro-Line.
“Excellent value!”
We used this hotel as a base for an evening performance at the Shakespeare Theatre, about 20 minutes away by car. Although inexpensive, the hotel was all we wished -- it was comfortable, clean and safe. The breakfast was excellent as well. We definitely plan to stay at the hotel for our next scheduled theatre visit!
