The resort offers an introductory scuba-diving lesson in the pool. Parasailing (including rides for two), personal watercraft, and banana-boat rides can be booked on the beach (surcharges).

“A Great Cancun Hotel”
The Avalon Grand is a great hotel - located in a perfect central area of the hotel zone. The hotel is modest in size compared to the other behemoths in the area - which gives it its charm - plus it has a bit of an authentic spanish feel to it! The staff is helpful and the room we had overlooking the ocean was the BEST we have ever had in our extensive travels. Along with the good their are a few minor issues: 1. Not all rooms have microwaves (ours did not). 2. The door to the adjoining room did not reach the floor - meaning we could hear many conversations in our room like they were talking directly with us. 3. The hotel next store plays movies and concert films outside in the evening on a large screen that can be very loud. 4. If your a reader the rooms might not have enough light near the beds to do so and the light on the balcony where it would be great to read in the late evening - is not strong enough. 5. Lastly - the 2 pools and hot-tub on the grounds were not heated that well - in fact we tried to use the pool next door as it was really hot - and since it was our first time in Cancun did not know that some of the hotels are all inclusive and we were very quickly asked to leave!
“Very nice!”
The Avalon Grand was a Grand place to stay. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The food and service was excellent. We were able to go to the Avalon Baccarra...just a block away, and lounge by their pool and use their facilities whenever we wanted.

The Avalon was a great hotel. The staff was very friendly and had very prompt service. There was always someone cleaning on the hotel so it was very clean. We really liked the fact that you could go over to the Baccara and the island and eat and drink. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only complaint is that the beds were really hard.

This was our first time in cancun. We did not know what to expect for chosing a hotel online. But once we arrived, we loved it. The view was beautiful, the hotel was so fancy and amazing. It was easy to get around to other places. The pool was so nice and big. We can not wait to go back. Perfect hotel for couples.
“Good value in early March, 2009”
Attractive Moorish architecture, convenient location 5-10 minutes via local bus to the entertainment district, beautiful lobby and buffet breakfast/brunch, very nice pools, 50 steps from the beautiful ocean waves (though the beach front is narrow).
“Cancun's Best Kept Secret”
We can't wait to return to Cancun! The Avalon Grand would be the only hotel that I would stay in while at this destination.
“Exactly what we expected”
This is not an extra luxury hotel, but it is very well maintained, clean, great facilities, rooms are very clean, bathrooms impecable. Room service was good, and all the personnel was very nice. The hotel is right by the beach, the pool faces the beach. Our son was at the pool while we were at the beach, only a couple of yards away! Excellent activities for the kids, swimming races, soccer, and other entertainment. We would go back to this hotel. If you are in Cancun, the last place where you will spend your day is at the hotel. We regret we did not get to spend more time enjoying hotel's facilities.
“Excellent Choice for a value Mexico trip”
overall good value clean friendly hotel. Beach was nice, service was ecellent, get the all inclusive package you can eat at all 3 avalon resorts in cancun area. Not much for night life entertainment at the hotel as compared to others but its just a short trip downtown on the bus from the hotel.
