“The best German hotel I have stayed in”
Arrived too early to check in, but was able to deposit my luggage (with a hotel tag in a locked room) and freshen up before going out for lunch Was met by a very polite receptionist - English not fluent, albeit far superior to my German; extremely charming and helpful, offering me a free city map and able to advise of the nearest laundrette Returned at 2pm to check in, which went off smoothly Had requested a room on a high floor and was given one on the top floor (hotel has lift) with a skylight and superb skyline view of the city Very large and clean room with 2 single beds, flat screen TV (about 30 channels), large wardrobe with plenty of hangers, wireless internet with fairly decent connection speed and fridge for guest use Clean bathroom with decent power shower and plenty of shower gel provided Beds so comfortable that I was asleep within minutes of lying on one after showering Later on, I was able to use the sauna, located in the basement, free of charge for as long as I wanted Excellent technologically-advanced vending machines (with beer!) at reception - staff always able to oblige with a bottle opener! 24 hour reception meant I could come and go as I pleased Breakfast was excellent – good coffee with real cream, a choice of cheeses and breads as well as both scrambled and boiled eggs; staff always on hand too Upon check out, was able to deposit luggage for several hours free of charge and was allowed to use the restroom to freshen up when I returned to retrieve them
“A great budget hotel in a great location.”
Very near the city centre. Only 15-20 minute walk to the Cathedral and train station. Neumarket tram and subway only a minute walk way. The hotel itself was great for a base. Breakfast served until 10:00, which consisted of yoghurt a few cereals boiled eggs and scrambled egg, sliced meats and cheeses, coffee and a selection of tea, (not black tea you may need to bring your own). The staff were very polite and spoke English. I would recommend an extra pillow. There was no air conditioning in our room, so slept with the window open. During the weekend some students can get a bit noisy. The rooms were not huge, had free use of a safe, television with a selection of European channels. The bathroom had a shower toilet and sink. There was a large bottle of hand wash/body wash/ shampoo (combined) if you need to travel light. I would recommend this hotel if using as a base. The price was very very reasonable. If you want to spend a lot of time in you room, I would suggest another. I would stay again.
“Great modest hotel”
Not a glamorous hotel for special occasions, but excellent for a city break or business trip. It is not in a tourist area, but the Cathedral and Hauptbahnhof are a short 2km walk on mostly pedestrian precincts and the South Station 1km. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast excellent. For an evening meal we went every night to 'El Gato', a Mexican restaurant nearby (Engelbertstr. 31 a, 50674 Cologne). We really enjoyed our 4-night stay, and especially an afternoon spent in nearby Brühl, the nicest place you've never heard of!
“Convenient location and affordable stay”
Hotel is clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but affordable. Location is one of the best parts. You will get away of the noisy tourist rush around the dom, and a closer experience to Cologne´s daily life, but still in a very convenient location, just two blocks away from Zülpicher platz or Mauritius kirsche train stations, which connect at Newmarkt station 5 minutes to the dom.
“GREAT TIME”
GREAT HOTEL IN A GOOD LOCATION LOTS OF EATING PLACES AND BARS LOCAL AND ONLY A FEW MINS WALK FROM CENTRE. THE ONLY SLIGHT THING I WOULD UPGRADE THE BATHROOM AS ONE OR TWO THINGS WERE A BIT OLD AND NEEDED REPLACING, NOTHING MAJOR WE HAD A GREAT STAY AND WOULD RECOMMEND AND RETURN TO THIS HOTEL. GIVE IT A GO YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY. GEOFF AND LINDA FROM BLACKBURN.
“Best quality-price ratio hotel in Cologne”
Very central, walking distance to Rudolfplatz, Frisenplatz and to most tram lines. Excellent breakfast buffet for a 3 start. Nice and friendly stuff. Free internet Clean and quite room, a few things need updated but nothing to worry about.
“Nice, quaint, friendly hotel”
We were staying in Cologne for 3 nights during the Christmas period and this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Great location in the city centre but not too central i.e on a nice safe quiet street in an area with enough shops etc. It was alson deal for visiting the Rudolfplatz christmas market, which was only just down the street. Arriving at the hotel the staff were very welcoming and glad to give us information on where we could go for something to eat nearby. One of the best things about this hotel is the breakfast especially considering the price for our stay. If we were ever to return to Cologne we would definitely try and stay in this hotel again.
“Good value for money”
A really good budget hotel. The rooms are basic but for the money you pay, are more than adequate. The rooms are cleaned daily with no concerns noted during my 3 day stay. Breakfast can be a little disorganised as it may take a bit of time to find a free (or cleared table), and at times you may have to request for the trays be refilled. Despite this, I think it is remarkable that a cooked breakfast is even included in the price we paid. The hotel is about a 20 minute stroll to the Dom Cathedral and the larger markets; however we were surprised to find that when we exited the hotel there was small Christmas market just outside along with various shops, cafes & restaurants.
