“Wonderful visit with friends.”
This was our second visit to the Melia. Both experiences were wonderful. Staff very friendly. Buffets were excellent. After making reservations for one of the restaurants one night, we decided we'd rather sit outside and have very leisurely dinners at the buffet. We never felt rushed, even though most nights we lingered for up to three hours.
“3 1/2 stars”
The staff was excellent, very helpful, the bed was very very firm, but the hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The restaurant had good food but was not the best. Breakfast aw good and lunch was just ok. I think we went the wrong time of year to really get the "M"experience. The Cafe Parisio was a 5 star restaurant and the only real benefit of the "M" experience. Not enough seating in the bar at night and the only place you could get Internet was downstairs in the lobby. I would rate this hotel a 3 1/2 star hotel.
“Great spot in Cozumel”
Melia exceeded expectations, and I'm a tough customer. The staff are very diligent and the facility is beautiful - beaches, building, grounds, everything. Very friendly employees too - they will take great care of you. Good food, GREAT drinks, plenty of clean water...I'd do it again.
“GREAT STAY!”
hotel staff were very polite and helpful.close to fantastic golf and shopping.only minutes from airport that went virtually unnoticed for air traffic during our stay.premium beverages were available at no extra charge.house wines at dinner were very palatable.would return for a longer stay.
“Wonderful vacation”
The hotel was very clean. The help was exceptional and we were treated like friends. We will absolutely go there again.
“no title”
When we arrived we were told that they were overbooked and our ocean view room was not available till monday. We could have a junior suite ( which we would have to pay the difference for ) and have a free massage. We looked at the Junior suite. It was a joke, it was a regular room... no suite, as it was we were paying extra for the ocean room how much more could they get from us for this so called suite. When we absolutely refused the "SUITE" the massage, the free bottle of champagne they asked us to wait 1/2 hour and suddenly our ocean room was ready. After that first lousy 45minutes everything was wonderful. The food bland but generous amounts, We had a great time. we have been to cancun 3 times This is our 1st time in cozumel it won't be our last...
“A perfect quiet and relaxing trip in the sun.”
It was a smaller hotel than we are used to, but just what we needed for a relaxation trip. The beach sand was so soft and white. Only 3 resturants, (one buffet, one outside grill, which turned into an a la carte at night, and another a la carte for dinner) The buffet was nice with similar food everyday. The staff was great and friendly and did speak english well, so this helped. The resort was always clean and tidy. Maid staff were very good at stocking towels, fridge and did a night service if you needed anything. We were there April 4th (wed to wed) for one week and the resort was nice and quiet. For a relaxing trip on the resort it was perfect. And if you wanted some action and activitites you could always go into town via a taxi easy enough. Nice great quiet trip. Enjoyed it a lot and we would go back! :-)
“From Kentucky April 9th thru April 20th, 2012”
This is the 5th time in 6 yrs that we have stayed at the Melia & we just can't stay away.To be recognized by the staff every year when we get there is great.Alberto the waiter, who has been there 25 years, calls us by our names & is so sweet & kind.We go to where Enrique the best bartender is working to get our special gin, vodka, orange juice, pineapple juice, banana, grenadine and ice in a blender (cabanas). He started at the Melia the year we first came & greets us as friends every year. Ignacio the Capitan in the Cafe Paraiso has been there over 30 yrs & will be retiring next year.We will miss him.The grounds are beautiful with a white sand beach & plenty of lounges & palapias to keep off the sun.Although the water in front of the hotel has seaweed, you can walk down to the next hotel, El Cozumelino & there is a snorkeling pool in front. For the real snorkelers, walk about 15 to 20 mins further on, cross over a destroyed patio with exposed rafters by H-caine Wilma & get in the water at a little cove & snorkle as close to the edge as you can, you can see some fantastic fish & corals & the current will bring you back up to the El Cozumel. The buffet food is very good with lots of variation, but the desserts are not very special.I am not a very adventurious eater, so fortunately almost every lunch & dinner they had some form of pasta. The rooms in the 3 story oceanfront building are in need of renovation, needs new furniture & drawer space.Does have a refrigerator which is great
“can't wait to go back... going back in february and just got back a week ago. Philipe is the best!”
Had a awesome time there except that we encountered a hurricane... would recommend to anyone to go but except during hurricane season plenty to do plenty eat plenty to drink. You have to try the crepes delicious . Rent a jeep and drive the island it gorgeous.
“Great Week for the Family...”
Our entire family enjoyed the Melia immensely! The best part was "Bam Bam", the Kid's club with around the clock activities for our boys (6&8) directed by highly energetic Sussy. Strongly recommend a Junior Suite in the tower--so much nicer than our first room (a "deluxe" oceanview which was not at all deluxe and very damp). Loved Cafe Paraiso and the beautiful piano music!
