“Very nice hotel.”
We injoined staying there.
“Great Location, Great Service, Great Stay”
this hotel is right behind the walking area of Chamonix Sud, walkable to bus to the main mountain, on the central tourist square for events and films, views of Mont Blanc, great food (did half-board - would highly recommend and I'm usually not a hotel-restaurant fan). No French language skills required. We had a large room with a good-sized full bath, quiet with views of Mont Blanc. Couldn't have got much better!
“Had plenty going for it!”
pleasant public areas and restaurant - friendly helpful staff. Some furnishing in bedroom was very dated - probably placed there to try to be in keeping with a sort of 'large alpine chalet image' - but it didnt really work - but not a major problem. The leisure/pool area is not as good as it might appear - the pool was minute - two's a crowd! Also, there were no robes and you were expected to change in your room and bring your bath towel with you - we decided not to bother. A pity really - just a bit amateurish and not in keeping with the rest of the facilities/approach etc We did'nt try the evening restaurant - but the kitchen looked spotless and breakfast was good with a reasonable selection - although perhaps not quite in keeping with many 4 stars we have been in. Good location and pretty quite - just off the main tourist area - so convenient. Seemed a bit pricey - but difficult to compare with what the 'going rate' is in the other hotels.
“Unsurpassed views make up for tiny room.”
Great location in the heart of Chamonix. We loved being close to everything but still on a quiet street. We ate breakfast at the hotel and it was well worth the price, fantastic selection with fresh croissants every morning. The room was typical European tiny, but was clean and functional. For a three star hotel we were very satisfied.
“Chamonix central and with its own Spa”
We arrived on a fairly grey day, and took a few wrong turns in the town before finally arriving at the hotel - which was central to the town, and looked lovely. We had booked parking (12E per day) direct with the hotel, which is advisable if you need it as there are only 13 spaces. If not there is an open car park a short walk away, and a multi-storey at approx. 500metres. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel was smart and warm. We had a double room on the 4th floor which had a view towards Mt Blanc and the Bossons Glacier - though we had to wait a few days before we saw Mt Blanc. The food at the hotel was very good, and the half board option we had taken was good value. Everything in Chamonix is expensive though - especially for us due to the Pound/Euro exchange rate - a Leffe (Belgian beer) in the hotel was 7E50 and in a bar in town was 5E00.
“Tired muscles after skiing? We have a spa...”
Top-level spa made all the difference. A brilliant way to relax after a tough day on the mountain!
“It was 'OK'”
It's about 15 years since I was last at the Park Hotel Suisse, and I don't think it's been decorated or updated in all that time. It's a nice hotel and right in the centre of Chamonix but sadly, it's looking rather faded and worn. I was there towards the end of September and the hotel was closing at the beginning of October until the ski season in December. The hotel restaurant was already closed and I was given a voucher for dinner at a local restaurant about 150metres away (the restaurant was excellent!). The bar was open but had no tonic for a G&T !! I was offered a 7up, not good enough! A plus point was the hotel has Wi-Fi (chargable). The Continental Breakfast was adequate. I got up quite late after a long drive the day before, there were no croissants left and the toasting bread had already gone stale. There were very few guests around and only 1 staff who was handling the front desk as well as trying to do the breakfast. The room was OK with a good view of Mont Blanc. It was clean although the decor was outdated and dark and the carpet was a bit worn in places. Would I stay there again? Probably, but not until it's been refurbished!
