“Relaxing and great location”
Hotel Agora is a very comfortable hotel with nice amenities such as TV, minibar, and internet access. It's very centrally located, sort of half way in between the waterfront and downtown. It's also less than 5 minutes walking from the train station. The hotel staff are generally friendly and polite. I would definitely recommend this place.

“Nice and convenient”
I chose this hotel for its convenient location, near the train station, with a metro station at the corner. I was please to see it was also in a quiet street and that I could see trees from the windows. Except for the beds (a bit soft) everything was fine. Breakfast seemed too expensive, and this allowed us to try the lovely café at the corner of the street.
“Had a pleasant stay”
The hotel is clean and comfortable. The single rooms are somewhat small, but I think hotels in many European cities tend to have small rooms so this may be standard. It is only a short walk to the train station and is next to a stop on the Metro public transportation line.
“Close to train station and metro”
The location is great if you are planning on taking the train or metro. The decor is outdated, but didn't take away from the stay. Construction noise started early some mornings (7:00 am).
“Good value for the money”
Hotel was clean and great, little bit old fashion (don't expect too much from Swiss...). Breakfast is too expensive, at the same price you have a breakfast for 2 in a great place called "Caffe de Grancy - 200 meters from the hotel. Over all - simple and great.
“Disappointed”
If you're on a budget and arriving or departing from Lausanne train station, this is an acceptable choice of hotel. Otherwise, stay away. The hotel is located about 5 mins from the station, but it's pretty basic and the service is limited.
“Hotel Agora Lausanne, Switzerland, Beware!!!”
I stayed for two nights at the hotel in May 2009. On the first night they gave us a room in the basement which was filled with smoke. When I asked the receptionist that we are not used to stay in the smoking room, she replied, that is a non smoking room (room had an ash tray!!!) and that is what is available as a standard room. Beware of the wording "standard room" as hotel had 6 floors but the ground floor was a standard rated room. On speaking with the front desk on the following day and explained them the situation that this was a smoking room, they still tried to convice us that it was a non smoking room. When we pointed out that it had an ash tray, they changed their tune and said that they will move us. They "upgraded" us to a fourth floor room which was fine. So "beware" of the standard room classification. It is in the most undesirable part of the hotel with little privacy.
“Not a 4 star!”
Dated decor, construction site, stained carpets, obscure and hard to reach power outlet, no english tv channels, crappy breakfast, etc. Save yourself the hassle and go through some reviews to find a better hotel.
