GREAT PLACE TO STAY ! LOVED IT !
“A real 5 star hotel!”
Everything about the hotel was exceptional, including dinner at the four seasons restaurant! Will go back!!
“Recommended”
Our trip was with our 2 'children' aged 17 and 20 in July 2007. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the service was excellent. There wasn't anything that was too much trouble. The staff were superb and especially the 'doorman' who had been employed by the hotel for 56 years! He was an absolute gentleman. Breakfast was buffet + waiter service so the best of both worlds - but sometimes 1 egg was delivered as 2!! Great variety. Lunch around the pool offered a good choice of food and you could have full waiter service just above the pool if required. The hotel was well placed for a variety of other restaurants/bars/shops and the beach was a short walk. The railway station was just before the beach and the trains were immaculate and very efficient - every 20 minutes to Lisbon and 4 euros return - last train at 1.30 in the morning. Cascais is also a short train ride or a 15 minute walk along the seafront and has an excellent varitey of shops/bars and restaurants. It was nice to be in a place where the predominant travellers were NOT english. Thoroughly recommend this area and the hotel. We thought it might be a bit 'austere' but we were very pleasantly surprised. The 5 star treatment was very appreciated - bathrobes, slippers, turndown service with choccies and the Molton Brown toiletries all made for a relaxing break.
“Old school charm”
The Hotel Palacio is full of old school charm. The staff are genuinely friendly and the service is helpful and unobtrusive. The food was basic but absolutely delicious. The pool was sparkling and the rooms very clean. My only complaint is that cupboard space was a little limited. I'd definitely recommend this hotel as a base to explore the Lisbon Coast (Cascais, Sintra, Lisbon, etc.).
“Excellent Hotel”
We have stayed at the Palacio before because of its location and elegant swimming pool. Previously the hotel had felt a little run down and the staff somewhat demoralised but the overall package was acceptable. They have now refurbished the hotel and it is back to its five star heritage. We were particularly impressed by the staff. There were some problems with one of the rooms but these were dealt with straight away. Nothing seemed too much trouble and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast is acceptable but could be better. They could check that fruit is ripe and the hot trays regularly replenished. But this is the only negative comment. We were delighted to see this famous hotel back to the condition it should be in and with staff that are the equal of any establishment round the world
“A must visit Hotel”
If you are visiting the Estorill coast this is the place to stay, not the cheapest for sure, but don't bother with a hire car and put the money towards the this Hotel we will be back. The location is perfect with a large (if a little cold)pool just across the road from the Casino which is also a must visit for the floor show (the hotel will book it for you)The railway line is about 5 minutes walk and the line runs North to Cascais (two stops about 1 Euro) and South to Lisbon 25 minutes and 3.5 Euros to Cais do Sodre from where you can link up to the Metro or the No 91 "Aero bus" to Lisbon Airport
“Palicio Estoril Experience”
As a couple, we have celebrated birthdays in Estoril now for a few years and most of them have been at Palacio Estoril. It is a wonderful place that I would recommend to everyone. This year they had moved the breakfast room to a smaller place because of a conference or some similar corporate event, this made the breakfast a little bit crowded but once the event was over, the breakfast was restored to its former home. I think that was putting the corporate event in preference to the regular guests is a mistake but apart from that I can find no fault. Without exception, the staff is a team of dedicated professionals who make guests feel at home. I hope we can continue to return for many more years.
“Great place to stay”
Very glad that we chose this hotel. Quiet, as was the city of Estoril. Short walk to the beach. Could see the beach from our window. Lovely pool area as well.
“Excellent Hotel, Beautiful Place to Visit”
I chose this hotel because of the great reviews. I was not disappointed. I really liked the old fashioned atmosphere. I felt like I stepped back in time. The room was very clean if not a little small; however, I paid the lowest rate so I am not surprised that I didn't get a larger room. Regardless, it was comfortable. The service was top notch. In particular, I needed to travel from the hotel into the city of Lisbon. The doorman arranged for a car (not a taxi) and got me a very good rate. I was so appreciative because with a cab, you never know what you might end up spending. The town of Estoril is really nice; however, there isn't much to do unless you want to visit the casino or hang out on Tamariz Beach. I recommend walking along the ocean esplanade to the city of Cascais. There are numerous restaurants, things to see, shopping, etc. This is quite possibly the most beautiful place I have been in Europe.
