“Old world charm”
Charming villa converted into a small hotel on a pretty bay just below town. Directly across the street from cable cars leading up to town where shopping and restaurants are located. Hotel estaurant and bar on beautful stone terrace under pine trees overlooking the bay. Great spot for those who do not require big hotel amenities, but who will enjoy the hotel's lush terraced gardens, private pebble beach, and old world charm. A good choice for families.
“Hotel with character and excellent staff”
We spent ten relaxing days at this hotel. The hotel is in a super location on its own private beach. but what makes the Hotel special is the friendly, helpful and professional staff. The Reception Staff were some of the best we have ever encountered. The cable car station is just around the corner which takes straight into Taormina Town. The Hotel is a peaceful haven from the bustle of the town so you have the best of both worlds. Food in the restaurant was first class a was the quality of the breakfast with plenty of choice and the ability to sit outside or in the conservatory both have views overlooking the sea. The Hotel itself was more akin to a large private villa with attractive public rooms and tranquil well kept terraced gardens. Our only grumble was the size of the shower cabinet in our bedroom which was very small and the lack of information in the room giving details of the Hotels amenities. The hotel might not be suitable for the less mobile.
“Pleasant surprise!”
We enjoyed our stay at the Villa Sant Andrea in Taormina. The suite we booked through Expedia was right on the water...beatiful rock formations and terraced patios made the view breathtaking. This hotel is at the beach across the street from the tram that takes you up to Taormina. It is important to know that is it not in the village of Taormina, however, very easy to walk across the street and take the tram! The restaurant at Villa Sant Andrea was spectacular! We will definatley return.
“Highlight of our trip”
Gorgeous view of the bay. Attentive service. Staff competent in English, a rarity in Sicily. Food excellent but pricey.
“Villa Sant'Andrea”
Best European hotel I have ever stayed at. Beautiful setting, beautiful town, convenient location, helpful staff.
“Wonderful setting”
This hotels nestles at the base of the cliffs below Taormina and is right on the beach, but also only 50 yards from the Fenicula up to the old town. The hotel has a private section of the beach which is fine shingle and they supply plenty of loungers and towels. The water is clear and good for snorkelling and scuba. In late September the Island is less busy and the weather is lovely around 25c. Breakfast is included self service and very good and either taken in the conservatory dining room or terrace both overlooking the sea. Evening dining is also delicious but is expensive but the menu is interesting eg rack of lamb with a Thyme icecream. We had a superior room which was well appointed had a good size bathroom with lots of fresh towels, bathrobes and Etro body lotions and gels. We also had a large terrace with loungers and table and chairs overlooking the beach. At this time of year though nearly all the balconys are in the shade for most of the day. The hotel has lovely lounges with antiques and paintings and the tree lined terraced garden is delightful. A great hotel for lazy days by the sea while having easy access to the lovely restaurants and sites in Taromina such as the Greek Ampitheatre.
“Was a wonderful hotel!”
Everything was perfect!
“Lovely Hotel”
Hotel was excellent. The staff were all very courteous and obliging and did everything to help us enjoy our stay. We only had breakfast in the hotel but this was more than sufficient with plenty of choice. Mazzaro itself was not very exciting but hotel is only short distance away from the cable car to take you into Taormina where there are plenty of shops and restaurants.
“Excellent hotel on the beach”
Service at Saint Andrea was very good indeed, particularly at the reception desk. Breakfast was second to none with delicious fruits, tasty almond pastries, various croissants, cheeses, yoghurts, cooked foods and even a Buck's Fizz cocktail, which I didn't realise until the last day! The bar area overlooking the beach was very romantic for a drink and snack, especially when the pianist was singing on late moonlit evenings, with a gentle breeze coming off the sea - really memorable. The view from the hotel is very special and one of the loveliest in the world. The only downside was that the hotel restaurant dinners were very pricey and very nouveau cuisine, so we tended to eat elsewhere in the evenings, as there were many choices in the nearby town.
“Great place, lovely views.”
Would definitely go back.
