Renovated June 2006, the hotel features bright furnishings, Italian bone china, and Christofle silver. Updated menu items include Slow Braised Kahuku Pork Belly, Pancetta Crusted Onaga, and Salt Crusted Rack of Wisconsin Lamb, served tableside. Old favorites such as the Crisp Whole Island Fish still remain. Thanks to a multi-level layout, all diners receive ocean-view seats, but may be distracted from the view by the open kitchen featuring fiery hot woks, a kiawe wood grill, and tandoori and wood-burning ovens. “Only place to stay in Oahu”
Small, Family Friendly, and close to everything. This is the only place to stay on Oahu.
“Very satisfied.”
A little bit far away from Waikiki, but this hotel is really quiet and comfort. The view, the beach is very nice.
“The finest destination in Oahu. Definitely five stars!”
The Kahala Hotel is an outstanding resort. The staff goes out of their way to see to your comfort. I was amazed at how well we were treated. Just a friendly reminder, please leave a tip daily for the housekeeping staff. They work very hard to see to the cleanliness and comfort of your room. It really pays off. The hotel's restaurants are excellent as is the service. The beach is gorgeous and the pools and hot tub are very clean and comfortable. All in all, we loved the place and will be coming back every year.
“Great Family Resort”
After reading some of the reviews, we were expecting a hotel tiring around the edges. What we found was a resort that provided truly exceptional service and facilities that were extremely nice. Our kids loved the fact they could easily run (ok, walk - no running) from beach to pool. They weren't impressed with the rather small pool, but enjoyed it anyway. As for mom and dad, we enjoyed the luxury and beauty of a great resort. We'd definitely go again.
“Loved to Relax at this Hotel”
I am so glad that my first trip to Hawaii was at this hotel and resort. My sister and I loved it all and I was able to relax and feel the warm trade winds. Everyone there seemed happy. Lots of happy families, honeymooners, singles, etc. that all helped to keep a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. This was an expensive hotel but well worth the price given all of the understated elegance. Ordered the breakfast package, which was great. Dinners need more variety though and maybe more causal food at night when people may not want a full meal. But everything was very well prepared, presented and appreciated. Watching the dolphins everyday was a pleasure and helped to set the tone of the hotel. They have a free shuttle bus to take you to Wikiki and shopping centers. I'm so glad we didn't stay in Wikiki given it's crowded, stressfull, and full of intense sales people.
“Absolutely loved it! Relaxed luxury.”
The staff is so friendly and knowlegeable. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we were in tropical paradise. Walked in to the room and the most beautiful music was playing. . .buy the CD. Cover your eyes when you walk by the dolphins at night. . .they're cute but naughty! Bartenders are kind and skilled!
“--Totally off the chain”
From the moment my husband arrived at the resort till the time we left we were in heaven. The breakfast buffet, the beach, and the staff were all first class. This was vacation we will never forget. Awesome
“Excellence again !”
Perfect visit, with only the exception of a couple of the wait staff who paid a bit too much attention to other guests as we waited just a bit too long for service (it was not busy at the time). But even those occurrences were miniscule by comparison, and I guess I was unfairly expecting perfection from everyone all the time. Room was very clean ( I never saw a housekeeper), the food was always excellent, and the beach service was helpful, prompt, and courteous. Beach itself is private, quiet, plenty of room, and well kept. Very well-equipped gym. Dolphins were swimming just about every time we walked by the lagoon. We witnessed a routine vet visit.......looked like the dolphin was enjoying every minute of it. Unfortunately, there is a daily charge for room, and my daughter had some unexpected work to do. The charge just made it more painful, but thankfully she got it done in one day. Our intention was to go and do nothing for 4 days. We took the complimentary Kahala shuttle (driver was wonderful, informative, helpful) once to go to a mall late afternoon, but other than that, we stayed on the beach, or ate, or both. And to the gym a few times. If I could stay a week, I would venture out to see more of the island(s). But there is really no need to leave the hotel if you are there for R & R. Mahalo, Kahala.........it was very sad to leave.
“did not want to ever leave”
the kahala lives up to its class. from the minute we first arrived to the minute we left we received excellent service from an exceptionally friendly staff. and what a beautiful resort it is! what makes it especially great is that it is located in its own secluded area, away from the hustle and bustle of waikiki (but if you want to stay close to that tourist hotspot, then this hotel is probably not the best place to stay). for those traveling with a baby, i would highly recommend the kahala. they provided a crib which our son happily slept in. and they also have a kiddie pool that is absolutely perfect for toddlers of any age. that fact that our son had such a great time at the kahala, made our stay that much more enjoyable.
“Can't wait to go back.”
This hotel is by far the most impressive and relaxing of any other hotel we saw. During our trip my wife and I took many day tours and because we stayed at the Kahala (outside of Waikiki) we were always the first to get picked up and the last dropped off. This gave us the opportunity to see many of the other hotels and every time we pulled up to one we both agreed that we were glad we picked the Kahala. Not that the other hotels were bad, they just didn't offer the relaxing feeling that the Kahala did. There is no trouble getting a chair on the beach at any time of the day. The staff is more than helpful for whatever it is that you need and the food is excellent although pricey. If anyone I knew was going to Oahu I would make sure they stayed at the Kahala.
