Step into the heart of Sardinia Blue Zone, one of the world's longest-living population lands. Discover a land where nature, tradition, and longevity are deeply intertwined. This two day guided trekking experience takes you through the wild and authentic landscapes of the island’s inland region, home to some of the world’s longest living communities.
Your journey begins in Nuoro, the cultural soul of central Sardinia, before setting off along ancient trails shaped by time and history. As you walk, you will cross dense forests of holm oaks and cork trees, fragrant Mediterranean scrub, and wide granite plateaus sculpted by wind into striking and almost surreal formations. These natural monuments, sometimes resembling human figures or animals, create a powerful scenery that invites you to slow down, observe, and reconnect.
Along the way, you will encounter traces of Sardinia’s prehistoric past, including the mysterious Domus de Janas, ancient rock cut tombs carved into the stone thousands of years ago. These sacred sites, scattered across the landscape, offer a unique glimpse into the island’s early civilisations and add a deeper and more spiritual dimension to the journey.
DAY 1
The experience begins with a guided trek through unspoiled nature and panoramic trails. During the day, you will stop at a local farm where you will experience shepherd life first hand, including a shepherd practices demonstration, discovering a profession that is deeply connected to longevity in this region. You will also share a simple and authentic meal prepared with local ingredients. This moment of connection, through food and stories, reflects the strong sense of community that defines life in this region.
In the afternoon, the trek continues across granite landscapes and open views, as the light changes and the mountain reveals new perspectives. In the evening, you will share a convivial dinner before choosing to sleep under the stars in comfortable tents or in a cosy local lodge immersed in nature, surrounded by silence and natural beauty.
DAY 2
After a breakfast in nature, the trekking resumes along quieter and more contemplative trails. The path alternates between shaded forest sections and open viewpoints, offering time to fully experience the landscape at a slower pace and reconnect with yourself and the environment.
Along the way, you will enjoy a rustic outdoor lunch with traditional Sardinian products, embracing the essence of simplicity and authenticity that defines this land.
This experience offers a glimpse into a way of living that has allowed people in this region to live up to 100 years and beyond.
