3-Day Congo (DRC) Lowland Gorilla Tracking from Rwanda

Day 1:
Kigali, Rwanda – Kahuzi-Biega National Park, D.R. Congo
After an early breakfast, your guide/driver will meet and greet you at your hotel or residence in Kigali. Following a short safari briefing, begin your scenic journey southwest towards Cyangugu (Rusizi), located on the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and take time to relax, unwind, and prepare for your exciting gorilla tracking experience in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Overnight: Nediva Bed & Breakfast (or similar)

Day 2:
Lowland Gorilla Tracking – Kahuzi-Biega National Park, D.R. Congo

Enjoy an early breakfast before transferring to Tshivanga, the headquarters of Kahuzi-Biega National Park, for your lowland gorilla tracking adventure.

Begin with a briefing from the park warden, who will share insights into the fascinating Eastern Lowland Gorillas and how they differ from other gorilla subspecies. You’ll then join a team of expert rangers and trackers for the drive to the trailhead, where your hike into the forest begins.

The trek may take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you locate a gorilla family, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to spend up to 1 hours observing them in their natural habitat—a truly unforgettable experience.
After the trek, return to Bukavu for relaxation and overnight. Overnight: Nediva Bed & Breakfast (or similar)

Day 3:
Kahuzi-Biega National Park – Kigali, Rwanda
After an early breakfast, begin your return journey to Rwanda, enjoying scenic views along the way. Upon arrival in Kigali, your driver-guide will drop you off at your hotel or at the airport for your outbound flight—marking the end of your memorable Lowland Gorilla Tracking Adventure through Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
