Enjoy a guided tour of this special and beautiful archaeological site. An ancient 1500 year old monastic-settlement perched on the banks of the river Shannon in the beautiful boglands of County Offaly. Enjoy a guided tour and learn of the history of the monks who survived and thrive on the sites by frequent Viking attacks, see the beautiful handcrafted Celtic crosses from the 10th century, the glorious Round tower and the magnificent altar were Pope John Paul said Mass in 1979.
