What you can expect

  • Experience the Authentic Essence of Japanese Budo - A Comprehensive Guide to Self-Cultivation

Many may perceive a “Dojo” as merely a gym and “Karate” as a competitive sport focused on winning matches. However, in Japan, these concepts hold a much deeper significance.

A Dojo is not simply a gym; it is a dedicated and sacred environment for self-reflection and personal development. Within the tradition of “Budo” (Japanese martial arts), competition is not about defeating others but about testing one's own abilities, overcoming ego, and fostering mutual respect. Here, your opponent serves as a partner in growth, which is why the principles of “Rei” (etiquette and respect) are held in such high regard.

Ultimately, Budo is a lifelong journey of self-cultivation. It is a discipline that enhances both mind and character, encouraging practitioners to integrate its focused practices into their everyday lives. True martial arts training extends well beyond the walls of the Dojo.

Historically, Budo masters have said, “the secret lies in the drinking establishments” - highlighting that the most profound connections, cultural insights, and philosophies are often shared during relaxed moments after rigorous training.

Our programme is thoughtfully designed to allow even complete beginners to immerse themselves in the daily routine of a karate practitioner, safely and thoroughly, within just one day.

    Your Experience Includes:

    1. The Mindful Practice (Inside the Dojo)
Step into our modern, meticulously maintained dojo, established in 2023. Under the guidance of an experienced English-speaking instructor, you will participate in the authentic daily routine of a karate practitioner. This includes learning the deeper meaning of etiquette (Rei), developing focus through breathing techniques, and practising fundamental karate movements.

    2. The “After-Training” Philosophy (At the Sake Bar)
Martial arts training does not conclude when you leave the dojo. Following your session, you will visit a traditional standing-style sake bar (Kakuuchi) located next door. In this relaxed setting, you will enjoy two drinks and local snacks - an opportunity to connect with others, share life philosophies, and build genuine camaraderie.

    What’s Included:

    • Full karate uniform (Dogi) rental
    • Refreshing water and a traditional Japanese hand towel
    • Two drinks and local snacks at the sake bar

Please note: This activity is exclusively for adults aged 20 and over.
