What you can expect

Step aboard the historic vessel MS Tuvholmen and set course into the waters of Altafjord. After a short welcome and safety briefing, your journey begins with stories of Arctic coastal life, local culture and the traditions that have sustained communities along the fjord for generations.

As we cruise through the fjord, guests take part in authentic coastal activities such as hauling crab pots and fishing lines. Depending on the season, there may also be opportunities to observe humpback whales and orcas feeding in the fjord. The Whale Season the last couple of years, has been from November, and out January. But whales can also be experienced in October and February. Whales are wild animals, and sights can not be guaranteed at any point or time.
Along the way, keep an eye out for sea eagles, seabirds and other wildlife that call this Arctic landscape home.

Throughout the journey, your hosts share local knowledge and stories while you enjoy the dramatic scenery of mountains, islands and open fjord. A meal inspired by local ingredients is served on board, connecting the traditions of the fjord directly to the table.

With small groups, personal hosting and a focus on authentic experiences, this is more than a sightseeing tour—it's an opportunity to experience the Arctic through its people, food and living coastal traditions.
