JALEB CHOWK - The main courtyard where the king’s soldiers assembled.
Amber Fort features four courtyards, palaces, halls, and gardens made of sandstone and marble. The main courtyard, Jaleb Chowk, was where the king's soldiers gathered and paraded. It is accessed through Suraj Pol (Sun Gate) and Chand Pol (Moon Gate).
SHILA DEVI TEMPLE
The Shila Devi Temple, dedicated to the goddess Shila Devi, is located to the right of the entrance, accessible by small steps. It's open from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Once part of rituals involving human sacrifices, the goddess now accepts goats.
DIWAN-E-AAM (Hall of Public Audience)
Climb the stately staircase from Jaleb Chowk courtyard to reach the second courtyard, where you'll find the Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), known for its grand pillars.
GANESH POL
Ganesh Pol is an intricately decorated gate leading into the third courtyard, where the king's private quarters were located. It features two buildings separated by a vast ornamental garden.
DIWAN-E-KHAS (Hall of Private Audiences)
Diwan-e-Khas (Sheesh Mahal), the Hall of Private Audiences, is renowned for its intricate mirror work and Belgian glass. It's considered the most exquisite part of the fort, also known as the Hall of Mirrors.
JAS MANDIR
Jas Mandir, located in the upper part of Diwan-e-Khas, features delicate glass floral designs.
SUKH NIWAS
Sukh Niwas, located on the opposite side of the garden, was the king's pleasure palace, where he relaxed with his ladies. It features a cool atmosphere created by water channels.
At the fort's rear lies the fourth courtyard and the Palace of Man Singh, completed in 1599. It includes the zenana (women's quarters), with rooms for each of the king's wives. At the centre is a pavilion where queens met. The courtyard's exit leads to the town of Amber.
