Visit the Diamond Museum and become a diamond expert! While our museum prepares for its new home, the highlights of the collection are on show in a temporary exhibition, combined with a guided diamond factory tour on one ticket.
You start with a 30-minute guided tour of a working diamond factory. Watch master polishers turn rough stones into brilliants in front of you, and discover the art of diamond valuation: the 4 C’s of Carat, Clarity, Colour and Cut.
From the factory floor you walk straight into the exhibition. The journey begins three billion years ago, two hundred kilometres below the earth, and ends in the ring on your finger. Along the way you meet the cleavers and polishers whose hands shaped the gems of empires and turned this city into the heart of the trade. Replicas of the Koh-i-Noor, the Cullinan and the Hope show how a single stone could change a dynasty’s fate, and royal crowns from Louis XV to the Imperial State Crown reveal how power was worn.
Good to know: the highlights exhibition runs until 31 December 2027. It is self-guided, with all texts in English via QR codes. We’re on Museumplein, two minutes from the Van Gogh Museum. Open daily.
