You will learn and make the most historic drinking chocolate once enjoyed by Mayan kings as well as European conquistadors!
We are a small chocolate maker located in a lovely Kaqchikel village called San Antonio Aguas Calientes, known for its beautiful weaving.
You are invited to our house & factory and will get to know not only about chocolate making but also our culture and daily lives in the village.
In this workshop you will enjoy:
- Interactive Powerpoint presentation where you will learn 5000 years of its history, Mayan culture, pre-columbian recipes, ancient & modern chocolate making tools, our own chocolate making process and more.
- Tasting during the presentation: Guatemalan premium organic Criollo cacao from different regions, chocolate to eat vs to drink, ground cacao and its derivatives, dark vs white chocolate and more, right from our factory.
- Roast and peel cacao on a traditional clay comal, then prepare cacao husk tea.
- Grind cacao with an ancient Mayan grinding stone (metate).
- Prepare hot chocolate with a traditional molinillo whisk.
- Personalise your cup with more than 10 pre-columbian and modern condiments.
- The 1 Hour Express Workshop includes only #3 to #6 while the 2 Hour Full Workshop includes all the steps.
