Begin your adventure with a pickup in front of the Best Western Hotel in central Astana. Travel by road to the Burabay region, known for its forests, lakes, and distinctive rock formations.
Make your first stop near the town of Shchuchinsk, close to Burabay National Park. Take an optional short hike to a scenic viewpoint overlooking Lake Shchuchye. The walk to the viewpoint takes approximately 20 minutes and is not strenuous. If you prefer not to hike, stay in the vehicle and relax.
Continue to the Botai Open-Air Museum, an archaeological reconstruction site dedicated to the ancient Botai culture. Learn about one of the earliest known civilisations associated with the domestication of horses and see reconstructed dwellings that illustrate daily life thousands of years ago.
Next, travel to Abylai Khan Meadow, one of the most popular and lively areas in Burabay. Enjoy lunch at local cafés or restaurants, browse souvenir stalls, try on traditional Kazakh national costumes, see trained eagles with local handlers, or take short horse rides. There is also an interactive museum on-site, usually available in English. Time spent here is flexible, and you may choose how you wish to spend it.
Later, take a boat ride across Lake Borabay, offering views of famous natural landmarks such as Zhumbaktas Rock and Okzhetpes Mountain. A large boat is reserved for the group, and the boat ride is included in the tour price.
Following the boat ride, visit Bolektau Peak. Access to the viewpoint is via a clearly marked stairway, and the ascent takes approximately 20 minutes. This walk is not strenuous and offers panoramic views of the national park. Participation is optional, and guests who prefer not to climb may relax in the vehicle or return to Abylai Khan Meadow to continue exploring the area.
At the end of the day, depart Burabay and return to Astana, with drop-off at the Best Western Hotel.
