We begin the day at 8:30 AM, departing from Barreirinhas in a 4x4 vehicle specially built for the sandy trails of the national park. After about an hour navigating the dunes, our first stop is at Lagoa do Gavião, a hidden freshwater lagoon surrounded by pure white sand and silence — perfect for a peaceful swim or just soaking in the natural beauty.

From there, we continue on to the open sea, where you’ll witness the meeting of the endless dunes with the Atlantic Ocean. The wind, salt air, and wide views create a refreshing contrast to the stillness of the lagoons.

Next, we arrive in Canto do Atins, a rustic beachside village known for its authentic cuisine. Here, you’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch at one of the region’s most beloved local restaurants: Dona Luzia, Senhor Antônio, or Carminha in Ponta do Mangue. These family-run kitchens serve up the region’s signature dishes, including grilled shrimp, sun-dried beef, and fresh fish, all prepared with regional spices and served in the shade of trees, with the sound of the breeze and birds around you.

After lunch, we continue on to the village of Atins, a place where time seems to move slower. Known for its bohemian charm, Atins is a blend of fisherman tradition and emerging eco-tourism. You’ll visit the incredible mouth of the Preguiças River, where freshwater meets the ocean in a stunning natural setting — a place of beauty, calm, and incredible photographic opportunities.

Before the day ends, we return to the dunes to explore a few more breathtaking lagoons that vary depending on the season. Among them, you may visit the serene Lagoa Tropical, the mysterious Lagoa das Sete Mulheres, and the vibrant Lagoa do Kaite. Each lagoon has its own personality, with shimmering water, soft sandbanks, and panoramic views.

Around 4:00 PM, we begin the drive back to Barreirinhas, arriving by 5:30 PM, just in time to see the sun setting over the landscape you’ve spent the day discovering.
