Your day begins with pickup from a designated location in Banff or Canmore, where you’ll meet your guide(s) and get a quick overview of the adventure ahead. From there, you’ll travel into Kootenay National Park, arriving at the trailhead for the hike to Stanley Glacier.
After a short introduction, you’ll set off along a well-defined trail that winds through a valley shaped by fire and glaciers, with waterfalls, towering rock walls, and fossil beds along the way. Your guides, trained in geology and outdoor adventure, bring the landscape to life with stories of how this terrain was formed, while keeping a comfortable, steady pace with time for photos and breaks. Snacks are provided, and there’s the option to add a packed lunch to enjoy in a scenic spot along the route.
For larger groups, a second guide ensures a more relaxed and supported experience. Hiking poles are available for added stability, and crampons can be provided if trail conditions require them. After reaching viewpoints of the glacier and taking time to explore the area, you’ll make your way back down the trail before returning to your original pickup location, finishing the day with a deeper appreciation of this unique corner of the Rockies.
