Our journey will start at Plaza Real, a wonder of architecture from the 19th century that hides a secret related to the early years of Gaudí's projects. Together, we'll find out what he actually achieved in that square. Hint: it's NOT the fountain ;-) !
After that brief introduction, we'll leave to cross one of the most famous streets in Ciutat Vella, the old town: the famous Les Ramblas, because not far from there, our renowned architect designed a sumptuous palace: Palau Güell. Sounds familiar? Yes, the same family as the park… ! Since we won't be going to the park, we'll learn about the relationship of Gaudí with the patriarch of the family: Eusebi Güell and how important he was for him.
From there, it's time to take the subway ! No worries, your guide will take care of the tickets, you just have to enjoy the ride, as a local, as we will reach Paseo de Gracia avenue, one of the most iconic streets for shopping, but most of all for 2 distinct houses built by Gaudí: Casa Batlló and Casa Mila, La Pedrera.
A lot can be said only from observing the façade of those 2 wonders build in the very beginning of the 20th century. Learn about the legend of Sant Jordi, and relate to the famous Montserrat Monastery.
Back to the subway, or walking if you prefer, and let's get to the first house that our architect designed in the city, and still unknown to the masses: Casa Vicens, my personal favourite !
Time to go to our last stop…….Sagrada Familia ! Gaudí's masterpiece !
After a 10min subway ride, we will marvel at this unique Basilica, which began construction in 1882 and will hopefully be completed in…2035!
We will appreciate both façades, Nativity and Passion, and learn about this one-of-a-kind and singular Basilica.
And this will be where our journey will end…but not your exploration of Barcelona, as your guide will give you tips on other visits you can do, tasty food & drinks tips, and any other recommendations you might need to fully enjoy your stay in our sunny city !
