The return tour begins in Switzerland, in Basel's verdant St. Johann Park, and heads downstream along the Rhine, passing the impressive Novartis Campus, to the French border. From there, we cycle on French soil along the Quai du Rhin through charming Saint-Louis, past the idyllic Canal de Huningue, and then cross the elegant Three Countries Bridge – the longest cantilevered pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Europe – which takes us into Germany.
Once in Weil am Rhein, we cross the border back into Switzerland, where we cycle through the Kleinhünigen port area – a fascinating place in the midst of a transformation spanning industry, logistics, and urban development. Shortly thereafter, we will reach the iconic border triangle, where Switzerland, Germany, and France meet.
On the way back, we will follow the Rhine upstream and pass by the Klybeck Wood Park, a creative, urban open-air space offering alternative cultural activities. The tour ends with a true highlight: a ride over the Dreirosenbrücke (Three Roses Bridge), which offers a spectacular view over the Rhine and into all three countries—perfect for rounding off the evening with a special panorama.
The bike tour covers approximately 6 miles and is mostly flat. A special experience for locals, visitors, or groups who want to discover the Basel area from a new, cross-border perspective.
More Biking. More Basel. More Adventure.
