What you can expect

In addition to its architectural grandeur and its connection to the famous Grande Torino, the Basilica of Superga houses a lesser-known treasure of great historical value: the Royal Tombs of the House of Savoy. A solemn place, full of memories, that tells the storey of a dynasty and, with it, that of an entire country.
It houses a total of 68 members of the House of Savoy, including kings, princes, duchesses, and princesses. Among the best known are:

  • Vittorio Amedeo II, the architect of the basilica and the first King of Sardinia;
  • Carlo Alberto of Savoy, a central figure in the Italian Risorgimento and promoter of the Albertine Statute;
  • Vittorio Emanuele I, King of the Kingdom of Sardinia.
