Continue up the mountains, taking in the beautiful forest views, until you reach the island’s most famous and wealthiest monastery, Kykkos. Founded at the end of the 11th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the monastery is known for its impressive gold decoration, paintings, and mosaics. Following this, visit the stunning Throni tis Panagias at the peak of the mountain. Experience the wonderful views of the surrounding nature and see the tomb of the first President of the Republic of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III.
