What you can expect

Begin with a convenient pickup from your hotel or apartment and set off on a scenic drive along the highway, often running parallel to the famous railway line that cuts through the dramatic Morača Canyon. Admire the towering cliffs, deep gorges, and breathtaking landscapes that turn the drive itself into an unforgettable experience.

Enter the heart of Biogradska Gora National Park, nestled on the slopes of Bjelasica, one of Montenegro’s most beautiful mountains. This protected area is home to one of Europe’s last remaining primeval rainforests, where ancient trees rise dozens of metres high, some over a century old, with massive trunks that have stood the test of time.

Walk along peaceful forest trails and wooden paths around the pristine Biogradsko Lake. Immerse yourself in pure nature, listening to the sound of flowing streams, birdsong, and the whisper of ancient trees. Along the way, hear local legends about the mountain, the lake, and the history that shaped this region. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, as deer, foxes, squirrels, and rabbits are often seen in this untouched environment.

After exploring the national park, take a coffee break and continue towards Kolašin, a charming mountain town with a rich history dating back to the Ottoman period, when it developed as a small frontier settlement along important trade routes. Today, Kolašin blends its historical roots with a relaxed alpine atmosphere, making it one of Montenegro’s most authentic mountain destinations.

Surrounded by the mountains of Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, and Komovi, this region is known for its exceptional natural purity. Experience an area famous for its fresh, drinkable spring water and fertile land, where traditional food is still produced in a natural way. Discover the distinctive layered Kolašin cheese, as well as hearty national dishes like kačamak and cicvara, once simple shepherd meals, now true local delicacies.

This region is also renowned for producing some of the finest potatoes, along with wild forest fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, as well as high-quality mountain honey, all shaped by the clean air and unspoiled nature.

For those seeking an extra touch of adventure, take an optional cable car ride at Kolašin 1600 Ski Centre. Rising from 1600 to over 2000 metres above sea level, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Bjelasica peaks, vast green pastures, traditional shepherd huts (katuns), and sometimes even herds of wild horses roaming freely.
