We will observe this sheer cliff overlooking the sea, approximately 297 metres high, near Villa Jovis. According to legend, the Roman emperor Tiberius would have condemned prisoners to be thrown off this cliff, and after falling into the sea, they would be beaten with oars and sticks by a team of sailors until death.
