What you can expect
This tour is an immersive journey into the heart of Palermo's historic old town, discovering its historic workshops, ancient crafts, and the flavours that have made Sicilian tradition famous. An experience that combines culture, craftsmanship, and food tastings, designed for those who want to get to know the city through the hands and stories of those who live there every day.
The first stop is the Antica Torrefazione Stagnitta, one of the oldest coffee roasters in Palermo, where the aroma of roasted coffee still wafts through the narrow streets of the historic old town. Here, participants can taste an authentic Palermo coffee, accompanied by granita and almond paste, symbols of traditional confectionery.
The tour continues with a visit to the Antico Laboratorio dei Pupi Argento, custodian of the Opera dei Pupi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside the workshop, you'll be able to see up close how Sicilian puppets are made, discovering the construction, decoration, and armature techniques that make these famous folk tradition characters unique.
The tour continues on to the charming workshop and store of Angela Tripi, an artist known around the world for her scenic and highly expressive nativity scenes. Here you enter a creative universe made up of intense faces, scenes of everyday life, and simple materials transformed into true works of art that tell the storey of the most authentic Sicily.
Inside the historic Ballarò Market, amidst voices, colours, and scents, we visit the historic Cannatella shop, where we can taste dried fruit and ancient traditional Sicilian products, discovering ingredients and recipes passed down through generations.
Another delicious stop is the Antica Fabbrica di Caramelle Terranova, where artisanal production continues according to traditional methods. Here, participants will watch the production process and will be able to taste different varieties of sweets, rediscovering the flavours of the past.
Along the way, you will also pass through the areas of the ancient coppersmiths, the artisans who once handmade copper pans and utensils, essential in Sicilian cuisine. An opportunity to discover a craft that has almost disappeared and to understand the importance of craftsmanship in the daily life of the past.
This tour is not just a walk through historical sites, but a complete sensory experience that involves sight, smell, taste, and memory. An authentic way to get to know Palermo through its shops, its artisans and its flavours, experiencing the city like a real Palermitan, amidst tradition, passion and hospitality.
