What you can expect

Leave Brașov in the morning and travel through rolling
hills shaped by centuries of Saxon settlement. Your
guide uses the drive to outline the multicultural
history of Transylvania and explain how fortified
churches and citadels protected local communities
across the region.

The day is structured around two UNESCO sites, with
flexibility built in at every stage. Depending on
conditions, your guide may adjust the sequence of
stops or add scenic pauses along the way — the goal
is always a relaxed, unhurried experience rather than
a timed checklist.

Your first major stop is Sighișoara, a UNESCO-listed
medieval citadel that remains inhabited today. You
enter through one of its original gates and explore
cobblestone streets, towers and quiet squares.
Landmarks include the Clock Tower, the Covered
Staircase and the Church on the Hill. Your guide
provides context before each section, after which
you have time to explore, photograph and wander
independently.

Note: most museums in Romania are closed on Mondays.
Your guide will advise on the day which interiors
are accessible and adjust the visit accordingly.

On the route towards Viscri, a brief stop in the Saxon
village of Saschiz offers views of the surrounding
countryside and the exterior of its fortified church.
When local craft shops are open, this is a good
opportunity to browse handmade regional goods.

The final stop is Viscri — a UNESCO village known for
its white fortified church, preserved rural
architecture and its connection to King Charles III,
who has supported conservation efforts here for many
years. Walk up to the church and learn how it served
simultaneously as a place of worship, community
storage and defensive shelter.

In Viscri, there is the option to stop for lunch at
a local slow-food restaurant using seasonal, regional
ingredients from nearby producers. Availability
varies by season and day — your guide will confirm
the best option on the morning of the tour. Guests
who prefer not to join can use this time for a village
walk, photographs or a visit to local craft shops.
Food and drinks are paid directly on site.

Throughout the day, the itinerary balances structured
guiding with unhurried independent time. Your guide
is available for questions about history, local
culture and practical travel advice at every stop.

Return to Brașov.
