What you can expect

Discover Bruges as you've never been told before!

You will be dazzled by:

  • The replica of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
  • The Museum of bobbin lace.
  • The medieval mills.
  • The building where the Stock Exchange began in the 13th century.
  • The oldest bar in Bruges.

You will start your journey at the Grote Markt where the old commercial port was located, and walk through the streets where Bruges life and commerce took shape:

Crane Square; the old customs house; the guild houses of Italian, Spanish, English and other European merchants; the house of the family that gave rise to the Stock Exchange; the oldest bar in Bruges (1515); the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Dry Tree and its relationship with the Golden Fleece. You will learn what Anselm Adornes meant when he called the city of Bruges the “University of Commerce” and visit the Jerusalem Chapel, inspired by the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and with a replica of the tomb itself. You will see the Almshouses, a kind of small beguinage exclusively for widowed women and learn about the Brotherhood of the White Bear, who organised jousting knights in the city. You will see the streets where the bolilleras sat to create the Flemish cloth, next to the current Lace Museum. We will tell you about the San Sebastian Archers Guild, of which the Queen of England was a member.

And finally, you will know the medieval mills that are still preserved from the thirteenth century and were one of the great economic engines of Bruges (besides having a wonderful view).
