What you can expect

  • ️ At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at the hotel to begin an experience that combines history, tradition, and local culture in one of the most emblematic areas of Bucaramanga: San Francisco, the birthplace of merchants, artisans, and families who have kept the Bumanguan identity alive for generations.
Our tour begins at the market square in the San Francisco area, a vibrant place where every aisle tells a storey. We'll walk among the stalls selling vegetables, tubers and fruits, discovering why Santander is the country's second-largest food-producing department. We'll learn about cassava, the different varieties of potatoes, and the smooth avocado from San Vicente de Chucurí, affectionately known as “la mantequilla” (“the butter”).
In the fruit area, we'll taste up to six local varieties, including pomegranate and Lebrija pineapple, as well as enjoy freshly prepared natural juices that are fresh and full of flavour. Before leaving, we'll visit the areas dedicated to handicrafts and aromatic plants, where tradition blends with popular wisdom.
After leaving the market, we'll walk a few blocks to immerse ourselves in the everyday life of the area, with its bustling commercial atmosphere and unique energy. We will arrive at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, a spiritual meeting point and the heart of the area, where we will learn about its history and the social legacy of the Franciscan community, a key element in the formation of the area and its community life.
From there, we will head to the leather goods area, the pride of Bumanga, recognised nationally for the quality and design of its products. Here we'll find shoes, wallets, belts, and accessories made by local hands, with special prices and exclusive discounts for our travellers.
During the tour, we'll also enjoy typical street foods, such as corn arepas, artisanal chorizos, and traditional drinks, which add an authentic touch to this experience that combines history, flavour, and local talent.
At the end, you will be dropped off at your hotel with the memory of a day that encapsulates the productive and cultural soul of Bucaramanga, among aromas, textures, and tradition.
