What you can expect

Get ready for an unforgettable white water rafting experience on the Barron River—just 20 minutes from Cairns. Perfect for first-timers and thrill-seekers alike, this guided adventure features up to two hours on the water, combining fun-filled Grade 2 and 3 rapids with calm stretches for soaking up the scenery.

Start with pickup from your Cairns or Port Douglas accommodation or meet at the starting point at Lake Placid. Upon arrival, meet your friendly guide, gear up with a life jacket, helmet, and optional rafting shoes, before making your way to the river's edge. After a thorough safety briefing and paddle instructions, practice in flat water before diving into the action.

Ease into your journey with gentle rapids to build confidence before tackling more exciting rapids—like the thrilling Cockerel Tail. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the rainforest and learn about local wildlife as you paddle through this beautiful natural setting.

After reaching the take-out point, change into dry clothes and check out your action photos, available for purchase during the ride back to your hotel.
