We'll start the tour by picking you up at your hotel. A staff member will meet you and take you to the vehicle for the excursion.
Head to the town of Otuzco and visit the Hanging Bridge of the Chonta River. The Necropolis of Otuzco is located 7 km from the city of Cajamarca, also known as “Ventanillas de Otuzco.” It's a pre-Inca cemetery consisting of 337 tombs excavated in the volcanic rock in the form of small windows. The niches and galleries are 8 to 10 metres deep and each sepulchral cavity is 50 or 60 cm. It's believed that the deceased were buried first in the ground and then some bones and skulls were deposited in the niches for veneration. Legend says that through some of the little windows, you can reach galleries that culminate in Cusco.
This tour is complemented by a visit to the Hacienda Tres Molinos. The manor house is simply of unparalleled beauty and architectural style. In the stables, you can see the most productive dairy cows, and as an agro-industry centre in the “Los Alpes” factory, you'll observe the production of dairy products such as cheeses, butter, and manjar blanco.
Continuing along the path, past the front of the stables, you'll discover the “Garden of the Hydrangeas,” a beautiful Botanical Garden where you can observe a wide variety of flowers and fruits of different types and sizes, recreating the view with the great variety of Hydrangeas characterised by their particular size. You'll also find handicrafts to take as souvenirs. You can also savour delicious typical meals from the region, sweets, or a rich chicha de jora. We'll wrap up our day's outing in Cajamarca's Plaza de Armas.
