On this trekking tour, hike the Caminito del Rey (King's Little Pathway), which is a narrow-gauge service railway that was built for workers to get to El Chorro hydro-electric plant.
Caminito del Rey is a one-direction walkway, which starts at the North access (Ardales) and ends at the South access (Álora). This walking tour begins at Conde de Guadalhorce Dam, a water reserve in Malaga. Learn about the history of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes canyon, which was carved by the Guadalhorce River.
The construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro included building a pathway for maintaining the channel. The path is known as El Caminito del Rey (King's Little Pathway), as it was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII. Encounter a footbridge over 3 kilometres long, built on the walls of the Gaitanes Gorge (Desfiladero de los Gaitanes). Experience one of the most beautiful natural spots in the province.
