We'll start in Barichara, a picturesque village with cobblestone alleys and colonial architecture that seems frozen in time. Here, you'll learn the storey of its founding in the 18th century, which bears witness to a past full of adventures and transformations. The journey continues along the legendary Camino Real, an ancient trail once travelled by the Guane indigenous people and later by Spanish conquistadors. As we make our way along this ancient trail, the landscape unfolds before your eyes: deep, majestic canyons; green mountains shrouded in thick fog; and flora and fauna that tell stories of centuries of evolution.
Upon arriving in Guane, a quiet village surrounded by an almost magical setting, we'll visit the Paleontological and Anthropological Museum. Here, the traces of prehistory come to life as we explore the fossils that bear witness to the evolution of the Earth, and we delve into the legacy of the Guane indigenous people, a community whose spirit can still be felt in the air. The vestiges of their culture, customs, and struggle during the Spanish colonisation tell us a profound storey of resistance and adaptation.
Our route continues with a stop at the vantage point, where you can admire spectacular panoramic views of the valleys and canyons that surround this magical area. The views are a reminder of the grandeur of nature that has shaped this region for millennia.
To round off this unique experience, we'll head to the Chapel of Santa Lucía, a historical landmark where the first evangelization efforts in the region began. This peaceful place bears witness to the first encounters between the indigenous people and the colonizers, a starting point in the fusion of two worlds that would forever change the fate of this land.
