The mangroves of the Afro-descendant community of La Boquilla (15 minutes from the historic centre) offer a unique experience that combines natural beauty with the rich culture of the community, harboring great biodiversity and are fundamental to the local ecosystem.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a 100% natural drink and native bilingual guides who know the area perfectly and are trained to offer an authentic and educational tourist experience.
The mangrove tour begins with an introduction to the ecological importance of this unique ecosystem. The guides explain the diversity of plant and animal species that inhabit the mangroves, as well as their crucial role in protecting the coast and mitigating the impact of phenomena such as hurricanes.
We will have a stop at a natural island in the middle of the area, where you will learn about some of the community's own activities, as well as different flora and fauna.
You will have the opportunity to learn traditional fishing techniques used by the natives of the community, we will teach you how to use nets and traps in an environmentally friendly way, showing the importance of sustainable fishing and respect for natural resources.
