Depart from Catania at 8:30 AM by jeep and head towards the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano. The jeep allows you to travel comfortably along scenic routes that larger vehicles cannot reach.
The first stop, at around 9:30 AM, is on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Zafferana Etnea. Here, stand at the very edge of a lava flow from the dramatic 1992–93 eruption — a powerful reminder of how close the village came to destruction.
By 10:00 AM, enjoy a curated tasting of local Etna products, including honey and other Sicilian specialities. Bathroom facilities are available at this stop.
At 10:45 AM, arrive at a natural terrace at the base of Mount Zoccolaro. This remarkable viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama of Valle del Bove, Etna’s grandest caldera — one of the most impressive sights on the volcano.
Around 12:15 PM, the tour takes you underground to explore a secure lava tube cave. Your guide will explain how these natural tunnels formed from ancient lava flows, and all necessary equipment is provided.
By 12:45 PM, reach the Etna Sud tourist area, where you can take an easy stroll among both ancient and recent craters. After a break at the tourist station for refreshments, begin the return journey to Catania at around 2:00 PM.
This tour is designed as an easy, accessible experience for all ages — perfect for families, couples, and anyone who wants to explore Etna without strenuous hiking.
