What you can expect
Join us on an exhilarating 3-day trekking adventure to Cerro El Plomo, the highest visible peak from Santiago at 5,424 metres (17,795 feet). This iconic mountain is not only a natural marvel but also a significant cultural site, known as an Apu in the Andes, which means it is revered as a sacred mountain. Cerro El Plomo holds great historical importance as it was used by the Incas for ceremonial purposes. In 1954, the mummy of a nine-year-old child, known as the Plomo Mummy, was discovered near the summit, adding to the mountain's mystique and cultural heritage.
We will start our trek from Valle Nevado, walking approximately six hours with gentle slopes until we reach our Federación Base Camp, where we will spend the night. The next day, we will make our summit push, a challenging 8-10 hour journey to the top and back to Federación. On the third day, we will descend from Federación back to the vehicle, celebrating our adventure with a much-anticipated beer. Throughout the trek, we will conduct thorough risk management, considering both the terrain and the group's dynamics to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
