Rest, relax, and refresh during a day or evening spent at beautiful Chena Hot Springs. Start your visit on a chilly note, checking out the elaborate frozen carvings in the resort's ice museum. Afterwards, warm up with a peaceful dip in the steaming geothermal rock lakes and hot tubs.
After you're picked up from your hotel in Fairbanks, head out of town for the scenic 60-mile (96-km) drive to Chena Hot Springs Resort. Grab a parka and bundle up before stepping into the wintry atmosphere of the Aurora Ice Museum. Created from more than 1,000 tonnes (907 mT) of ice harvested from the resort's property, this cool building features coloured ice crystal chandeliers and incredible sculptures by world-champion ice carvers Steve and Heather Brice.
From the museum, slip into your swimming costume and find your way to a serene section of the hot springs. You can lounge in the mineral-rich, naturally toasty waters of the outdoor rock lake, swim in the balmy indoor heated pools, or sunbathe between soaks in the outdoor hot tub. Grab a bite to eat at the resort's restaurant if you'd like, and then take a shower and towel off before the return ride to Fairbanks.
