Immerse yourself in the bold, flavourful world of Sichuan food at the Chengdu Cuisine Museum, the only museum in the world dedicated entirely to this world-famous culinary culture. An English-speaking guide is provided at the museum to help you understand the rich stories behind the exhibits. This is a self-guided experience where you explore at your own pace, enjoying delicious samples and choosing your level of interaction—from watching spectacular live demonstrations to rolling up your sleeves and cooking authentic dishes yourself.
Your Destination: Chengdu Cuisine Museum
This interactive museum showcases thousands of cultural relics, utensils, and historical materials related to Sichuan cuisine. Wander through exhibits detailing the history of Sichuan peppercorns, the development of the region's famed “mala” (numbing and spicy) flavour profile, and the artistry behind iconic dishes. The highlight is the live demonstration area and the all-you-can-eat “Snack Street,” where you can sample dozens of local snacks, teas, and condiments.
Explore the museum, then watch two incredible live cooking performances. See the making of Kung Pao Chicken (Gong Bao Ji Ding) and marvel at the “Golden Thread Noodles” show, where a chef uses a special giant blade to slice dough into strands—so thin they can be threaded through a needle or even lit on fire.
