Pickup starts slightly earlier around 7:30 AM from core hotels in Yuzhong, Nan’an, and Jiangbei Districts. Drop-off is in the central Jiefangbei area (no hotel drop-off for shared tours). The drive to Fuling takes about 1.5 hours.

Your first stop is the Bahe Liang Underwater Museum (closed Mondays) — a UNESCO-recognized site buried beneath the Yangtze River. Walk through glass tunnels surrounded by shimmering water as you discover ancient carvings and river-level marks dating back over a thousand years — no diving suit required!

Next, dive into the past — literally — at the 816 Nuclear Project, the world’s largest man-made cave. Built in secret during the Cold War by over 60,000 workers, this massive underground labyrinth feels like stepping into a sci-fi film. You’ll hear stories of secrecy and ambition while exploring its colossal tunnels and chambers.

Afterwards, refuel with lunch (not included — your driver or guide can recommend great local spots), then head to the spectacular Wuling Mountain Grand Canyon. Known as “China’s No.1 Dynamic Canyon,” this natural wonder features towering cliffs, waterfalls, and oxygen-rich forest air that’s said to be ten times fresher than the city’s. Wander the trails, take in the epic views, and, if you like, hop on the Tongyakou Cableway (optional, extra fee) for panoramic shots you’ll brag about later.

As the sun begins to set, relax on the ride back to Chongqing. Expect to arrive around 7:00 PM for the shared group tour or around 6:30 PM for private travellers, depending on traffic.
