Itinerary: Lima Colonial & Modern City Tour
Discover the essence of the “City of Kings” through a curated journey that seamlessly blends contemporary sophistication with Lima's pre-Hispanic and colonial heritage.
I. Miraflores: Pacific Vistas and Modern Art
Our experience begins in the vibrant district of Miraflores. We will make our first stop at the iconic Parque del Amor (Love Park), a space dedicated to romance featuring the celebrated sculpture “The Kiss” by artist Víctor Delfín. From its colourful mosaic-tiled benches, we will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and the dramatic cliffs of the Costa Verde.
II. Huaca Pucllana: The Pre-Inca Legacy
Next, we head to the heart of residential Miraflores for a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, an imposing ceremonial and administrative centre built of adobe by the Lima culture (4th century AD). Our expert guide will provide a historical briefing from the exterior, explaining the significance of this archaeological site within the modern urban landscape.
III. Historic Centre: The Vice-regal Grandeur
We will proceed to the Historic Centre of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Plaza San Martín: We will admire the French-influenced architecture and the monument dedicated to the Liberator of South America.
Plaza Mayor (Main Square): We begin a guided walking tour of the city’s historic heart. From this strategic point, we will view the majestic facades of the Cathedral of Lima, the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace, and the Archbishop's Palace buildings that narrate centuries of power and tradition.
IV. San Francisco Convent Museum & Catacombs
We will visit one of the most significant architectural gems of the continent: the Convent of San Francisco. Explore its world-renowned Baroque library, housing thousands of ancient texts dating back to the Spanish conquest. The highlight will be descending into the Catacombs, subterranean crypts that served as the city’s first public cemetery, holding the remains of over 70,000 people in a deep atmosphere of history and mystery.
V. Gastronomic Experience: Pisco Sour Tasting
To conclude our journey, we will enjoy a demonstration and tasting of our national drink: the Pisco Sour. You will learn the secrets of its preparation and toast to Peruvian hospitality before our return journey.
