What you can expect

Day 1:

After breakfast, leave Cotahuasi and head to Taurisma. Explore ancient cedars, colonial churches, and the retama forest. Continue to Tomepampa to photograph its traditional church, and then to Alca for its agriculture, balconies, and colonial houses. Descend to the Luicho hot springs for a local trout lunch. Enjoy a therapeutic bath in the hot springs.

Return to Cotahuasi for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2:

After breakfast, travel to the deepest part of the Cotahuasi Canyon. Observe the agricultural and geological richness of the Colca and Piro fields. Visit the Sipia waterfall, a symbol of the Cotahuasi Landscape Reserve, cascading 150 metres amid a dramatic clash of water and rock.

Return to Cotahuasi for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Chaquicocha Lagoon, the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and the Santa Ana Bell Tower. At 6:00 PM, transfer to the Arequipa bus terminal, arriving at 3:00 AM the next day.
