The Burying Point

Burying Point Cemetery (also called Old Burying Point or Charter Street Cemetery) is Salem’s oldest burying ground, established in 1637. This atmospheric colonial-era graveyard is the final resting place of several notable figures, including Salem Witch Trials judge John Hathorne and Mayflower passenger Richard More, and features weathered slate headstones, some decorated with classic death’s-head motifs. Located next to the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, it remains one of the city’s most historic and frequently visited haunted sites.

Salem Old Town Hall

Old Town Hall in Salem is a historic Federal-style brick building constructed in 1816–1817 in Derby Square. Originally designed as both a public marketplace on the ground floor and a town hall/meeting space on the second floor, it is the earliest surviving municipal building in the city. Over the years it has gained a haunted reputation, with reports of apparitions in the windows, unexplained sounds, flickering lights, and a lingering presence—especially during witch-trial reenactments. The atmospheric landmark was also famously featured in the film Hocus Pocus.

Ropes Mansion and Garden

Ropes Mansion is a historic Georgian Colonial house built in the late 1720s at 318 Essex Street in Salem. Originally constructed for merchant Samuel Barnard, it was later purchased by Judge Nathaniel Ropes and remained in the Ropes family for generations. The elegant home is known for its classic architecture, period furnishings, and reported hauntings, and it has long been regarded as one of Salem’s most atmospheric historic houses.

Witch House

The Witch House (also known as the Jonathan Corwin House) is the only remaining structure in Salem with direct ties to the 1692 witch trials. Built in the 1670s, it was the home of Judge Jonathan Corwin, who served on the Court of Oyer and Terminer that condemned accused witches. The dark, historic house stands as one of the city’s most iconic and frequently visited landmarks connected to the infamous trials.

Bewitched Statue of Elizabeth Montgomery

The Bewitched Sculpture (also called the Samantha statue) is a bronze statue of Elizabeth Montgomery as her iconic character Samantha Stephens from the 1960s TV show Bewitched. Located in Lappin Park at the crossroads of Essex and Washington Streets in city centre Salem, it depicts Samantha flying on a broomstick past a crescent moon. Unveiled in 2005 and commissioned by TV Land, it has become one of the city’s most popular photo spots and a common meeting point for tours. This is where the tour meets.
